Dr. Sternhagen’s purpose is to alleviate suffering, illuminate hope, and promote growth using science, experience, creativity, integrity, and compassion.
He has been licensed as a psychologist since 1992, when he completed his Doctoral training at University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND.
Scott has practiced in a variety of clinical environments including the United States Air Force, psychiatric inpatient hospital, general medical outpatient clinic, inpatient chemical dependency treatment center, and general mental health clinic settings.
Dr. Sternhagen has a focus on using evidence informed treatment techniques, with a particular clinical interest in treating patients with anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and emotional trauma-related disorders.
He believes that every patient has the capacity to use their available strengths and resources to improve their overall life functioning. Â Mental health treatment is about helping individuals identify those strengths and resources, helping them eliminate obstacles that prevent them from achieving their life goals.
