One of the most difficult choices in life is to take a journey that is unknown, uncertain, and unsure. With any path of healing, this journey must be taken. The road less traveled is full of brush, barriers, and obstacles. However, this road may also lead to a new beginning. We like to stay with what is comfortable and expected, even if it is at the expense of our health (emotionally, physically, and spiritually). My commitment to you is that when you are ready to take the road less taken and to face the unknown, I will be with you along that journey. Not to do it for you, but to let you know that you are not alone.
I was born and raised in the beautiful Black Hills, with deep family ties to Rapid City and the surrounding communities. I graduated with my master of social work at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2004, and have practiced as a licensed clinical social worker since 2008. I have diverse experiences providing therapy in residential treatment facilities, in homes, schools, outpatient clinics, groups, family, and the last seven years with Air Force active duty personnel both as a mental health provider and a sexual assault advocate.
With nearly 20-years of mental health experience, my theoretical approach is eclectic as I believe each individual is unique. However, my most utilized approaches are cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and cognitive processing therapy (trauma). These theoretical approaches do not replace my belief that 90% of success within any form of treatment is the relationship. Therefore, feeling respected, valued, and worthy is very important to me when working with you.
